Drebz87 39
lenny was certainly an intimidating man just by watching those fights on youtube, is it true he never lost a fight ? nah he lost his first match to roy, once or twice to cliff field i think it was, but in his autobiography maintains was unbeaten on the cobbles, i'd certainly wouldnt like to meet him in a dark alleyway lol.
Frann 882
Wonder if they could have made it in legal boxing? Suppose more discipline is needed? I know bog all about it lol but its strangely intriguing to watch guys without fear
gnasher16 30,217
Both powerful and fearless men right enough......must admit ive never thought Roy did himself any favours with these interviews they make him sound like a sore loser especially being that Lennie wasnt around to dispute what he said......besides which if David Haye can get slaughtered for using a broken toe as an excuse for losing.....using ginseng as an excuse for getting sparked out... well.......... Lennies cousin who i knew from the boxing got me a job working on a door with the pair of them years ago when my life was in a shit state....everyone knew who Lennie was and i must admit i was a bit wary of him and thought i might be a bit out of my depth but he was great i wouldnt say we was friends but i got to know him over the few years i was working, this was after the Shaw fights he was about 11 or 12 years older than me but even at 22 stone whatever he was he could move when he had to ive said many times ive never seen a more explosive man than Lennie. What needs remembering with the fights with Roy Shaw is in Roys defence he was much smaller than Lennie and a good 13 maybe 14 years older.......Roy only lived a mile or so from me in the last years of his life and we had similar business interests so spoke the odd time i always found him a gentleman and a nice fella.....but with or without gloves id say Lennie would have beat him 9 out of every 10 times they fought........couple of good old school boys out the East End who done well for themself after a rough start in life.
